Monkton Combe, once an intermediate station on the long-closed Camerton branch near Bath, was thrust into the limelight in 1952 when it was chosen to be the location for the filming of the famous Ealing Comedy "The Titfield Thunderbolt".
The Peco Lineside kit creates a faithful reproduction of the building as it was during its short life as a passenger station. Built in 1910, it closed to passengers entirely in 1925, the branch lingering on for goods only until 1951. Despite its very short life the building was an attractive one and a similar style has been used at other locations around the GWR system, South Wales coming to mind.
The kit comprises a set of precision laser-cut wooden parts, plus a few plastic accessories such as chimney pots, with plenty of detail and texture to replicate the characteristics of a wooden buildings. Like the other Peco laser-cut wood kits, they are a pleasure to build.
